Waterfront Traditional

Nearing the complete renovation of their Lake Washington home and pool, the homeowners requested a complete renovation of their entrance, driveway, exterior spaces and gardens from their landscape architect.

Working with many existing elements, the landscape architect developed a master plan incorporating the homeowners love of colorful, but easy to care for plants. The circulation was well established, but hardscape material upgrades were needed. The established gardens had been through many seasons, some not so successful.

When renovating an existing garden, success arrives first by editing the elements that no longer fit. Whether it be its location, style, color, scale, or health, if it doesn’t work for the new vision, it’s gone. So, in the new planting design several beloved trees had outgrown their original spaces and they were successfully relocated to new locations.
This included two large palms & one mature hydrangea tree. An existing dwarf box hedge was realigned along the new lawn line. The infill garden material is composed from colorful, sun loving, hardy small shrubs and perennials creating a joyful entrance display for their guest as they approach from the waterfront.
